We have had the privilege of ever since The Freedom Place became ours, to partner with the wonderful people of Portage Learning for a service work day each spring. This year over 40 people gather at The Freedom Place for several work projects on the day. Volunteers freshened up the mulch, trimmed hedges, and cleared brush from the outdoors. We cleaned up around the pavilion and parking lot areas, and added a new gaga ball pit, painted basketball and 4-square lines on the parking lot, and finish the fence. We also had a group of volunteer add fresh paint to brighten up the wall on the front of the building. Inside, the closets were organized and we replaced the floor in the Taste & See Hall. These additions were an amazing blessing to the already great look of the Freedom Place, and they will allow more students and young people to enjoy the space and it’s surroundings.

We can’t thank the many volunteers of Portage Learning, and the friends of Skybacher Ministries (Native Brush Painting, Bonzo & Son Construction) enough. We are so excited about the new and exciting possibilities at the building.

The Freedom Place remains open for rentals for the summer and for graduation, birthday, communion, anniversary and all your party needs.
