Summer Report 2018 – Joy and Hope!

Every summer I wonder if we still have the energy to run summer day camps.  I often begin the summer praying, “When I am weak, He is strong.” Then I see a kid getting a piggy back ride, kids getting hi-fives, hear the sounds of laughs and crashes on a slip-n-slide, witness the celebrations of a touchdown, basket, or goal, or see the joy on the faces of the young people surrounding me and the Joy of the Lord takes over!  Year 11 of our “More Than” Sports Camps ministry was once again a summer of blessing. We feel so incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work with students and children! We had some incredible weather, and amazing kids attend the 6 different camps.  But what excites us the most continues to be watching students and young adults use their gifts and abilities to serve future generations. This summer we had over 40 college, high school, and jr high students work with us.  When we first started we had 1 college intern say she would help and a handful of students from our Pray & Play ministry. It is amazing to see God at work. We had a blast talking to campers about overcoming fears, encouraging others, and the Good News that Jesus loves them.  Highlight days happened during soccer camp and playground camps when we had a huge slip-n-slide, and during basketball and flag football camps we had amazing days of team spirit during our final days of 4 team challenges! Thank you to everyone who participated in and helped make this summer of camps another successful year.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
