There is a great story in 1 Kings 17 about Elijah visiting a widow and asking for bread. She says that she barely has enough oil and flour to make any bread. Elijah tells her not to worry for the jar of flour will not run out and the jug of oil will not run dry. ” For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah. ” 1 Kings 17:16

There have been many times I have looked into the cabinet of Skybacher Ministries and thought we barely have enough to get by, and then God seems to always provide the bread!

I had every intention of sending out a big thank you to all of our supporters right after Christmas as we closed the year very well, once again at a time when the cabinets looked bare! We were so grateful for the support and end of the year donations!

We aren’t raising funds for a cure for cancer, or to end world hunger. We aren’t relieving natural disasters, or ending poverty. But we are helping people walk through the journey each and every day! Sure our avenue is sports, and sports culture has increasingly become driven by money, competitiveness, and pride. But that’s the lane God has placed us squarely in, and our mission remains the same as when we first had the idea back working at Geneva College. That athletes, sports people, people who are lost, need Jesus!!! So we continue to look for ways to go meet them where they are at.

That’s why each month we continue to have a sports tournament where kids can throw dodgeballs at each other, but also hear a message from God’s Word! That’s why each week we have an open gym (Pray & Play), where kids can get exercise, but also receive prayer for their friends, school, and family! That’s why on a weekly basis we have a girl’s group where two married women meet with the teenage girls and help them navigate thru the challenge of being young modest women of God. That’s why we have started a weekly video game challenge – students love video games and are always playing them. So now we can play video games with them and have a time of devotion of prayer. That’s why we have 6 summer camps that are dirt cheap, and not only teach athletic skills, but teach life skills, while giving older students to opportunity for service learning!

That is why we feel so honored that the jars and the jugs keep being filled by people like you willing to make a donation and support what God has called us to.

Recently Avery & Jackson Sullivan had a birthday party and raised $150 in donations instead of getting gifts, and also some donated sports equipment! Wow!!! How awesome!!! It’s people like Avery and Jackson who are helping us live out the call that God has on our lives each and every day.

If you are interested in making a donation it is very easy you can do so online by clicking the donate button or going to this link. There you can make a one time donation or a recurring. Or you too can collect sports equipment, donate snacks, or provide scholarship for the summer camps.
