This summer was our 19th year of the Skybacher “More Than” Sports Camps summer program. We get excited every spring as the camp season approaches. What group of coaches will we have. Who will be the kids we remember. What kinds of joy and fun will we experience this year? Every year it exceeds what we truly can ask or imagine on all levels. This year was no different.
We started off with the camp we start with every year in “More Than” Basketball Camp – It’s always such a fun way to “jump off” into our summer adventures. We spent the week talking about ways that we could “Jump Out” in faith and had a blast in basketball events and activities.
Next we took on the world’s most popular sport in a World Cup year in Soccer Camp. It was so much fun having students make and design flag and waving flag around as we danced and celebrated during our 4 team final frenzy.
Flag Football camp was filled with touchdowns, and a few take downs as we once again worked our way through the book of Joshua and what it means to be Strong & Courageous

Basketball Camp 2 was one of the hottest weeks of the summer. In spite of our attempts to host things in the gym with air conditioning. A faulty fire alarm forced us outside into the heat and back to the hot gym. This didn’t dampen spirits though as New Sewickley Fire District came and cooled everyone off with what seemed for 45 minutes.
Soccer 2 was a great week of talking about a double portion of God’s blessing, and one of the best days of Karaoke and Talent Show in Skybacher Ministries history!! Throw in a slip-n-slide day, and another day of cooling down with New Sewickley Fire District spraying us down. It all added up to an amazing fun week of soccer and beating the heat.

Finally we wrapped things up with our largest ever attended camp with 171 campers and 54 counselors and coaches!!!! Wow! It was amazing to see so much life and joy in one place every day. We also had our first rain day of the summer and that only mean that we play in the rain and then have an absolute dance party at the pavilion for snack.
It’s honestly hard to even explain the amount of joy experienced in these camps, and the small little pictures of heaven. We all at Skybacher Ministries feel so priviledged that this is what we get to do every summer and are so sad to see it end. It truly is the best days of summer for us and so many others. Thank you to our many sponsors, volunteers, and families for Our prayer is that the love and joy experienced, the scriptures shared, the fun, the dancing, and the incredible memories made are carried and shared with others throughout the rest of the year! God is an amazing and big God! To him be the glory who is able to do imeasurably “MORE THAN” all we can ask or image!
