It may seem like a theme but “The Someone Special Dance” was an event we had held for many years up until 2020. Then it faded away with the many events and programs affected by the pandemic. When we knew we were going to have our own multipurpose event space in “The Freedom Place” – I knew the first event that we could host would be the revived “Someone Special Dance”.

The newly renovated The Freedom Place looked beautiful. We were able to decorate it with red lights, disco lights, and more, and the downstairs hall had Valentine’s decor and looked great as well. We did our best to get the word out and promote the event as the first community event at The Freedom Place.

About 20 people and their “Someone Special” attended on the night, dancing, singing, laughing, and jumping around. Attendees were able to get their picture and also cool down with refreshments and cookies. We had contest winners for musical spots, limbo, 4 corners, and a newspaper dance which was an old classic dance game we had always held.

It really was a special night. For me it always offers what a little picture of heaven where there is dancing, singing, and pure joy. We are so excited about the feedback we recieved and the ways we were able to show off the incredible blessing to the community that “The Freedom Place” can be. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
