Back in the beginning of June, the isolation of covid-19 was still going on, the country was full of unrest from protests, and the struggle was real! (and continues to be!). I did my weekly reach out to the people God places on my heart, and talked to a few Skybacher Alumni who were dealing with loss in their lives. They both expressed how they wish there was something Skybacher Ministries they could go to. I responded immediately with, “Well, we could go play basketball!” and the Rise Up Basketball nights started on June 5th at Buttermore Park in Conway. If you’re a baller as well who’s into the NBA, then you may be highly curious to how much does nba scout make.
That first night we prayed for unity, strength, and protection. 12 men catching up on life and sharing about what they were doing with the struggle.
It must have met a need because we have been meeting now for 11 weeks. Sometimes I pray out loud and over them, sometimes I pray as I watch because my team has lost. One thing I know is that God is not finished with any of these men that attend. I see so much potential, and room for growth, and in what they feel is weakness, He can and will be strong.
Please join us in praying for this ministry, and for these men that attend. Pray for me as I try to follow God’s direction in this, and keep my 45 year old legs moving up and down the court. Pray that this will be a way for all of us to Rise Above the struggle!!! Also if you are interested in joining us to play, we play at 5:30p on Friday nights at Buttermore Park in Conway.
