It had been since 2019, since we had done our beloved Dodgeball Pumpkin Blast Tournament. Oh how missed it was! Nine teams of K-6th grade filled the gym, most wearing team themes – (the Fireballs, the Soccer Zombies, the Zelie Zombies etc.) The dodgeball action was frantic and intense as we were on a little bit of a time crunch and always strive to get the maximum amount of dodgeball fun available. Also we had 2 Pumpkin balls per court that added to the excitement because a team that caught this ball got their entire team back in, and if you hit someone with that ball, you got to pick anyone that was out to come back in. Teams played matches of 2 games a piece before we took a quick break to hear a message about how God will never let his kids down! 1 John 3:1 and Psalm 37:25. Then it was onto the playoffs wear a team of 3rd graders called the Fireballs made quite the run to the championship, but in the end they didn’t have enough to knock off the champions – The Dawgs! It truly was a blast!
But the fun didn’t end there as we cleared things out so we could continue with the jr. high and high school teams. 4 teams battled it out and heard the same message about how we can be called God’s children and He doesn’t let His kids down. One team remained locked in more than all others and that would carry them to the title. Congrats to the Knuckleheads for their Pumpkin Blast Title!
It was an amazing night to see the smiles, laughs, celebrations, and joy, and be reminded that He will never let his kids down!!
